Abstract

Internship programs play an important role in preparing students for the professional world, especially in the hospitality industry. The Front Office department is considered the frontline of hotel operations because it directly interacts with guests and represents the hotel’s image. Therefore, understanding students’ perceptions of their internship experience in this department is essential to evaluate the effectiveness of internship programs. This research aims to investigate students’ perceptions of their internship experiences in the Front Office department at Banyan Tree Hotel, focusing on supporting and inhibiting factors, namely the quality of training, interaction with guests, and hotel systems and procedures. This study employed a qualitative research design. The participants were three students from Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji who had completed their internship in the Front Office department at Banyan Tree Hotel. The data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.
