Nabila, Salsa Diva. 2026. The Effect of Using Flashcards on Students' Reading Comprehension of 7th Grade at SMPN 16 Tanjungpinang. Thesis. Tanjungpinang: Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji. Pembimbing: (I) Benni Satria, S.Pd., M.Pd., (II) Pradipta Agustina, S.Hum., M.Pd. Keywords: Flashcards, Reading Comprehension, Powerpoint This study aimed to determine the effect of flashcards on the reading comprehension of seventh-grade students at SMPN 16 Tanjungpinang. A quasiexperimental approach with a non-equivalent control group design was used, involving 83 students: an experimental group (n=43) that used flashcards and a control group (n=40) that used PowerPoint presentations. Written tests were administered as pre-tests and post-tests. Data processing using SPSS showed a significance level of 0.001 (p < 0.05), thus rejecting H₀, accepting H₁, and rejecting H₂. The experimental group achieved a post-test average score of 81.98 (SD=19.184), significantly higher than the control group, which scored 64.63 (SD=24.109). Performance analysis across six dimensions showed the greatest improvement in additional physical details (32.4% difference), comments (29.3% difference), and personality traits (24.5% difference). Based on these findings, the study concluded that the use of flashcards had a statistically significant positive effect on students' reading comprehension at SMPN 16 Tanjungpinang
