Abstract

This research investigated whether a Roblox-based Spelling Bee game couldinfluence the writing performance of students at SMPN 1 Tanjungpinang. Thestudy employed a quantitative, pre-experimental design using a single-group pretest/post-test format. A total of 43 ninth-grade students from the school tookpart. Writing samples were collected before and after the intervention and assessedwithan analytical rubric adapted from the IELTS Writing Band Descriptors. Becausethe data were not normally distributed (or per your chosen rationale), theWilcoxon Signed-Rank Test was used for analysis in SPSS. Results showedaclear gain in average scores, rising from 43.72 before the intervention to 72.56afterward, a difference that was statistically significant (p < 0.001). Notably, everyparticipant showed higher scores on the post-test than on the pre-test. Theseresults suggest that incorporating the Roblox-based Spelling Bee game hadameaningful positive impact on students' writing ability, supporting its potential asa useful tool for improving writing achievement.
