Abstract

This study aims to find out the effect of Online Written Feedback on student‟s writing skill through social media facebook at SMAN 4 Tanjungpinang. A pre-experimental design was used as the design of the study with one group of eleventh grade of SMAN 4 Tanjungpinang with 30 students as the sample of the research. A pre-test was run at the beginning of the study and followed by providing online written feedback on students‟ writing personal letter as the treatment. A post test was also run at the end of the study. The pre and post test score then were analyzed by using SPSS 21 to find the mean score between the two scores. Then a paired sample t -test was also run to answer the research hypothesis. The statistical analysis used on this research showed that online written feedback was not really affect the students‟ writing performance, especially to be applied on students at Tanjungpinang in this 2020. Eventhough there was a difference between the mean score of pre and post test, from 83.07 to 85.70 but it was not significantly different. Thus, it answer the research hypothesis that the implementation of online written feedback on students‟ writing at SMAN 4 Tanjungpinang had no significant effect in improving students‟ writing
