Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not there is a positive and significant correlation between metacognitive reading strategy and students reading comprehension. In this study, the researcher focused only on metacognitive reading strategy and students reading comprehension. The method that used in this research is quantitative. The sample of this study was 6 of 10 th grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul’ulum Swasta Tanjungpinang by using total sampling techniques. Retrieval of data using quistionnaire andmultiple choices tests. The data shows the average value of metacognitive reading strategy and students reading comprehension is 61 and 80. This proves that meatacognitive reading strategy and students reading comprehension is good. The results of this study show a probability number of 0.000 which is more than the minimum probability number of 0.05. This proves that metacognitive reading strategy and students reading comprehension in Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul’ulum Swasta Tanjungpinang is highly correlated.
