Abstract

This research aimed to know the students’ difficulties in translating text from Indonesian to English in Translation for ESP Class. This research was a descriptive quantitative method. In this research, the researcher has only one class to serve as a sample consisting of the fourth, sixth, and eighth-semester students. The researcher used saturation sampling technique in choosing the sample. The instrument used in this research was an essay test in the form of text about Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2008 Concerning Electronic Information and Transaction violations. In analyzing the data, researcherscalculated manually and also using Microsoft Excel. Based on the results of the research, students in the Translation for ESP class have difficulty in translating text from Indonesian into English. Components were adapted from Farahzad (1992) in the journal JESL written by Hajar Khanmohammad et al. (2015). It can be seen from the number of students’ mistakes reaches 1162 with the percentage 57.74% for the mistakes in the choice of words, 27.88% for grammatical structure, 11.10% for the appropriate use of pronouns and 3.28% for the mistakes in transitional.
