Abstract

This research is aimed to identify the types of errors that students make in constructing passive voice. Through this research, the researcher also wants to know the highest frequency of making errors in constructing passive voice. The reason to choose this study is when teaching practice in MTs Negeri Tanjungpinang, the researcher found some errors of students in constructing passive voice. This research is descriptive qualitative. To collect the data, the researcher uses test as instrument of research. He gave a test consists of two parts to the ninth grade students, part 1 is filling in the blank, and part 2 is changing active voice to passive voice. The researcher counted the errors as the data, next it was analyzed by using formula: P=F/TN x 100%. After analyze the data, the researcher found that the students made 4 kinds of error, those are omission ( 423 or 40.21%), addition (127 or 12.07%), misformation (341 or 32.41%), and misordering (161 or 15.30%). The total of error is 1052. It means that omission is the highest error in this research
