Abstract
The problem that is often faced in seed production is the high mortality rate of larvae or the low survival rate. Several factors that cause death in larvae are feeding, genetics, density, water quality and larvae trapped on the surface of the water. This is because the larvae have phototaxis properties or chase light and take up oxygen on the surface of the water in the process of forming swim bladders. The information obtained is that the Fish Seed Center (BBI) of Pengujan Village has used squid oil to increase the survival rate of white snapper, as for the way to apply it, namely by dripping squid oil on the surface of the water but still not using the right dose, for that it is important to do research on the administration of different doses of squid oil on the surface of the water to determine the best dose on the survival rate of white snapper (Lates calcarifer). This research was conducted in March–April 2021 at the Pengujan Fish Seed Center (BBI), Bintan Regency. The method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications, namely PK: Without squid oil, A: squid oil 0.1 ml/m2 , B: squid oil 0.2 ml/m2 , C: Squid oil 0.3 ml/m2 , D: Squid oil 0.4 ml/m2 . Data analysis using One-Way ANOVA and Duncan's follow-up test showed that the best survival rate occurred in the C treatment (24.53±2.66%), the best absolute length occurred in the A treatment (1.16 ± 0.04) cm. The results obtained showed that C treatment was the best treatment.
