Abstract
This research aims to examine the types of figurative language found in the song lyric “it’s not right for you and superheroes” by The Script. There are two research objectives; the first objective of this research is to find the types of figurative language used in the song lyrics “it’s not right for you and superheroes” by The Script. This study also aims to find the type of figurative language that is mostly used is the song lyrics “it’s not right for you and superheroes” by The Script. This type of research used in this study is qualitative descriptive document research. The tool used to obtain research data are the researcher himself and documentation sheet. To analyze the data, the researcher employs the theories by Davis (2016) and Lakoff and Johnson (2008). The researcher uses study document method. The researcher used the documentation method to collect the data. After collecting data, the researcher began the process of identification, the researcher organized the data by gathering the data, classified the data by placing sentences in song lyrics according to the type of figurative language. The next step in analyzing the data, the researcher will explain each type of figurative language used in the song lyrics “it’s not right for you and superheroes” by The Script and the mostly type figurative language used in the song lyrics. Based on the result of the data, the researcher found that there are five types of figurative language used in the song lyrics “it’s not right for you and superheroes” by The Script, namely hyperbole, meiosis, simile, idiom, and personification. The mostly types of figurative language used in the song lyrics “it’s not right for you and superheroes” by The Script is hyperbole.
