Abstract

This study aims to examine the meaning of slang in the film Pitch Perfect, There are two objectives in this research, the first is to find the type of slang in the Pitch Perfect movie, second is analyze the meaning of slang in the Pitch Perfect movie. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research. The tools used to obtain data in this study were the researcher herself. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the theory of Eric Partridge (2004). The researcher used descriptive analysis method. Researchers used the method by watching movies and reading movie scripts to collect data. After collecting data, the researcher began the identification process by collecting data, classifying the data according to the type of slang that exists in the theory, then analyzing the data, the researcher will explain the meaning of slang in the Pitch Perfect movie and categorize slang into existing types based on theory. Based on the data, the researcher found that there are two types of slang in the Pitch Perfect film, namely: Society slang and Public Schools or University slang. Researchers also found a total of 34 slang in the Pitch Perfect movie.
