Abstract

This research aimed to design learning media to teach writing skills to tenth- grade student’s at SMAN 5 Batam. In the design of storyboard learning media, it was expected that student’s would be motivated in learning to write, and the learning process would become more interesting, with student’s being expected to be active in the learning process, especially in writing recount text. The researcher focused on recount text material in tenth grade. The method used in this research was research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE model by Dick & Carry. In this model there were only 3 stages carried out, namely analyzing, designing, and development. The data collected came from interviews, and validation sheets. Storyboard teaching materials met the valid criteria with the result of material validation obtaining a percentage of 82,2% and the result of media validation obtained a percentage of 80%. So that teaching materials using storyboard were suitable for use to be implemented to student’s.
