Abstract

This research was conducted on 11th grade students in semester 2 at SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang. The topic of the problem discussed in this study is students' critical thinking through a written test of analytical exposition text. Critical thinking skills must be owned by students because it is very important to be able to help them solve their own problems. Critical thinking requires looking at a problem from several perspectives before reaching a final decision. One way to measure critical thinking is through writing, especially analytical exposition text. The process of writing analytical exposition text requires students to think critically which is then poured into writing. Based on the assessment of critical thinking, grade 11 students are the most suitable subject in this study. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research with research subjects 31 students by data collection instruments use written tests and interviews. Based on test results, the average student score is measured through the score range based on the indicator. Starting from very good, good, fair to poor, poor and very poor. In conclusion, students' critical thinking skills in writing analytical exposition texts have been performed well in this study.
