Abstract

Coral reefs have many important roles in marine ecosystems. There are 2 causes for the destruction of coral reefs, namely: natural and human factors. Natural factors are also caused by humans again, namely global warming and human factors, namely coral reef mining, coral reef mining will certainly have a negative impact and damage to ecosystems, the destruction of coral reef ecosystems can eliminate the habitat of thousands of marine biota and also cause erosion on beaches. In the end, the function of coral reefs as protection of coastal areas from currents, sweeping waves and waves is lost, followed by the loss of coral reefs. Even more severe impacts will be felt by humans considering the destruction of habitat and the impact on marine biota populations that have decreased drastically. This study aims to find out how criminal law is enforced against coral reef mining on Midai Island, Natuna Regency. The theory used in this research is law enforcement theory. The research method used in this research is empirical normative. The data sources used in this research are primary data and secondary data. The results of research on criminal law enforcement against coral reef mining as building foundation stones (a case study of the Midai Islands, Natuna Regency) are still not maximally supervised and there are no witnesses given to the perpetrators of coral reef mining. The obstacles in law enforcement against coral reef mining by the community are the lack of legal knowledge and awareness in the community as well as the lack of coordination between the Police and the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of the Riau Archipelago Province. Keywords: Coral Reef Mining, Supervision, Community.
