This research also used quantitative quasi-experimental method and the technique taken was purposive sampling. In this design the researcher used pre-test and post-test conducted in both groups. This study also used the experiment class 12 IPS2 and control class 12 IPS 1 consisting of each class of fifteen students. To find out whether there is an effect of using the ELSA Speak application, researcher used the speaking test as a data collection tool. The data analysis used is Independent sample T-Test using the SPS application. The result of the research is a significance of 0.043 and 0.045 which is less than 0.05. These results indicate that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and hypothesis one (H1) is accepted and Hypothesis two (H2) is rejected. It can be concluded again that there is a significant effect of using the ELSA Speak application on students' speaking ability using news items for class twelve at SMAN 7 Tanjungpinang.
