Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore students’ perceptions of using the Duolingo application as a medium to support vocabulary mastery. The researcher used a descriptive quantitative method with a questionnaire as the instrument in this study. The study involved 90 students from the batch 2023 of the English Education Study Program at Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji. The questionnaire in this study used Yes or No questions, consisting of five aspects: effectiveness, advantages, disadvantages, interest, and motivation. The results of the study showed that students’ perceptions of the effectiveness aspect (97.58%) were categorized as very good, the advantages aspect (96.95%) were categorized as very good, the disadvantages aspect (72.5%) were categorized as enough, the interest aspect (92.8%) was categorized as very good, and the motivation aspect (96.15%) was categorized as very good. The average score across these five aspects was (91.20%) and was categorized as very good. They stated that Duolingo was a very good medium for supporting vocabulary mastery.
