Abstract
This study aims to explore students' perceptions of the use of Grammarly in thesis writing. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through questionnaires and in-depth interviews with 20 students of the English Education Study Program at Maritime Raja Ali Haji University class of 2020 and 2021. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that most respondents had a positive perception of Grammarly, considering it an efficient tool for detecting grammar, punctuation and spelling errors. Grammarly was also perceived as helping to improve academic writing skills through clear and understandable feedback. However, some shortcomings were identified, such as dependence on a stable internet connection, suggestions that are not always relevant in an academic context, and superior features such as plagiarism checking that are only available on the premium version. The conclusion of this study is that Grammarly significantly assists university students in improving the quality of their thesis writing, although it still requires manual validation from users to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the feedback.
