Abstract
This research aimed to analyzed the teaching of listening based on the Kurikulum Merdeka in the seventh grade at SMPN 11 Tanjungpinang in. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method on one English teacher who teaches seventh grade at SMPN 11 Tanjungpinang. The instruments used in this research are observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results show that the teaching of listening was conducted in three main stages pre-listening, while-listening, and post-listening each of which reflected varying levels of alignment with the principles of the Kurikulum Merdeka. The teacher implementation of listening instruction reflected the core values of the Kurikulum Merdeka, especially in fostering student-centered learning, collaboration, formative assessment, and character education. However, to achieve full curriculum alignment, further improvement is needed in the integration of Project-Based Learning and technology-enhanced instruction.. In short, the Teaching of listening instruction based on Kurikulum Merdeka at SMPN 11 Tanjungpinang was not only aligned with curriculum demands but also grounded in pedagogical reflection, classroom responsiveness, and students’ learning needs. This research was expected to provide insights to English teachers and education practitioners in developing enjoyable and effective listening lessons.
