Abstract

This study aims to find out the teaching reading strategies used by English teachers at SMKN 4 ANAMBAS, using qualitative research and observation, interviews, documentation, as supporting instruments for research, using Vacca & Vacca’s (2005) reading strategies, namely Scaffolding, Think-Aloud, Reciprocal Teaching, SQ3R and QARs. As a basis for analysis for researcher. The results of this study show that English teacher at SMKN 4 ANAMBAS use three of the five strategies, these three strategies are considered effective in helping students with limited English vocabulary to understand the reading material more easily and be actively involved in the learning process. Teachers focus on guiding students gradually by helping them translate vocabulary, encouraging them to express their thoughts while reading, and organizing group-based discussions to strengthen understanding collaboratively.
