Abstract

This study aims to analyze the problems students face in learning English, specically in reading skill at smpn 11 Tanjungpinang. This study was conducted using descriptive qualitativee method with students in class VIII.2 at SMPN 11 Tanjungpinang. The instruments used in this study were observation, interview, and document. The results of the study indicate that there are four main indicatorsof reading difficulties, limited vocabulary is the primary factor influencing the other aspects. Furthermore, most students are still in the moderate reading ability category, with some students still in the low category. In short, students reading skill still need to be further improved through more effective teaching methods, enhanced vocabulary mastery, and ongoing reading practice.
