Yumarti, Ranti. 2022. Improving Students Writing Skill on Recount Text by Using YouTube Media at the Eighth Grade of SMPN 18 Bintan. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji. Advisors: (I) Assist. Prof. Dewi Murni, S.S., M.Hum, (II) Assist. Prof. Gatot Subroto, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Improving, Writing Skill, Recount Text, YouTube Media. The purpose of the study was to find out whether using YouTube media was able to improve the students’ writing skill on recount text at the eighth grade of SMPN 18 Bintan. The subject of this research was the VIII grade students which consisted of 34 students, 19 male students and 15 female students. This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) and decided to conduct action research by implementing the model proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart. There were two cycles with four meetings in each cycle. There were four board in each cycles: planning, action, observation and reflection. The results of the research showed that the using YouTube media was able to improve the students’ writing skill on recount text at the eighth grade of SMPN 18 Bintan. The students were more participated and motivated in the writing teaching�learning process. In the first cycle, the number of students who passed minimum mastery criterion of 70 were 21 out of 34 students (61.76%). In the second cycle, the number of students who passed minimum mastery criterion of 70 were 31 out of 34 students (91.18%)Yumarti, Ranti. 2022.
