Abstract
This study aims to investigate and analyze the common errors made by seven low-performing ninth grade students in using irregular verbs and regular verbs in retell texts. The main objective is to identify specific types of errors in using irregular verbs and regular verbs in retell texts. This study used descriptive qualitative as the research methodology, using a writing test as the data collection instrument. The results of the analysis showed four main types of errors: omission with 14.7%, or 5 errors , addition with 2.94% or 1 error, misoredering with 2.94% or 1 error, and the most errors that student made is Misformation with 79.4% or 27 error to be the most frequently observed errors. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the difficulties students face in verb usage and provide a basis for developing effective instructional strategies to address these challenges. teachers can also attach well-constructed sample texts that focus on the use of irregular and regular verbs, and teachers can also provide some exercises that focus on the use of irregular and regular verbs. By addressing these errors, educators can improve students' proficiency in using irregular verbs and regular verbs in story texts, which can ultimately improve their overall English proficiency.
