ABSTRACT Rusdi. 2023. Students’ Speaking Difficulties in Debate at English Club of SMAN 2 Tanjungpinang. Keywords: Speaking Difficulties, Debate, English Club This research objective is to find out students’ speaking difficulties in debate at English club of SMAN 2 Tanjungpinang. The subject of this research was five English Club students and the adviser in English club is English teacher of SMAN 2 Tanjungpinang. The research design from this research is a descriptive qualitative design. The research instruments in this research were interview, observation and documentation. This research adapted data analysis techniques from Miles and Huberman. This technique consists of 3 stage, Data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings of this research that students’ have speaking difficulties in debate at English club students of SMAN 2. The English Club plays significant role in helping students improve their spoken English. Students have access to resources and opportunities to improve their English. The difficulties begin with Students in the English club struggle to speak in debates due to issues with vocabulary, grammar, fluency, comprehension, and pronunciation. In debate, Students also difficult to mastered in grammar and vocabulary. There are some words that are difficult to pronounce. These problems become serious thing and made students feel nervous so they not confident to speak in front of people.
