Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out whether the use of Spinning wheel media can improve the ability to read descriptive texts of class VII students SMPN 1 Karimun. The subjects of this study were class VII students consisting of 23 students, 11 male students and 11 female students. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) and researchers decided to do classroom action research by applying the model proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart. There are two cycles with four meetings in each cycle. There are four stages in each cycle: planning, action, observation and reflection. The results showed that the use of Spinning wheel media can improve the ability to read descriptive texts for class VII students of SMPN 1 Karimun. The students are more participating and motivated in the learning process-teach writing. In cycle I, the number of students who passed KKM 76 was 12 out of students (52.17%). In cycle II, the number of students who passed KKM 76 was 20 out of 23 students (86.95%).
