Abstract

This study aims to determine whether silent animated short films have an impact on the English writing skills of grade 8 students at SMP Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang. This research uses a Quantitative approach and Experimental research. The participants in this study were grade VIII students. They are class VIII4 as the experimental class and class VIII5 as the control class. To determine the impact of the treatment using silent animated short films, a pre-test and post-test were conducted. Both classes received treatment. The experimental class used silent animated films and the control class used power point. The results of this study were that the experimental class had an good impact, namely increasing students' writing ability compared to students who used power point.
