Abstract

This study aimed to determine how the effect of the tea party strategy influenced students’ reading comprehension ability at SMAN 2 Tanjungpinang. The quantitative method and pre-experimental design were used, with the sample was taken by cluster sampling technique. In this research design, a one-group pre-test post-test design was employed, with no control group. The data of this study were collected from 36 students in class X.1 using written test instruments, namely pre-test and post-test. To determine whether there was a difference between before and after the treatment, the researcher used the t-test. The results of data analysis conducted with SPSS showed that the sig value (2-tailed) was 0.000, which indicated that .000 < 0.05, and it was found that H0 was rejected. It could be concluded that there was an effect of the tea party strategy on students’ reading comprehension skills at SMAN 2 Tanjungpinang.
