Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out whether using Diary Book media was able to improve the students writing skill at tenth grade of SMA N 1 Buru. The subject of this research was the X IPA 1 grade students which consisted of 22 students, 12 male students and 10 female students. This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) and decide to conduct action research by implementing the modal proposed Arikunto. There were two cycle with three meetings in each cycle. There were board in each cycles: planning, action, observation and reflection. The result of the research showed that the Diary book was able to improve the students’ writing skill at tenth grade of SMA N 1 Buru. The students were more participated and motivated in the writing teaching-learning process. In the first cycle, the number of students who passed minimum mastery criterion of 75 were 12 out of 22 students (54.54%). In the second cycle, the number of students who passed minimum mastery criterion of 75 were 17 out of 22 students (74.27%).
