Abstract
This research aims to seen if there was any significant effect from the used of story mapping toward students' reading comprehension. This research was conducted at SMPN 10 Tanjungpinang. Class VIII-4 was the class studied by the researcher with a total of 26 students. To found answers to research problems, researcher used quantitative methods. The data collection instrument carried out by the researcher was a reading test. The research design used by researcher was a pre-experimental design one group pretest/posttest. From the data analysis conducted by the researcher, it was found that there was a significant effect that occurred when using the story mapping technique toward students reading comprehension at SMPN 10 Tanjungpinang. This means (H1) is accepted and (H0) the null hypothesis was rejected. This can be seen from the paired sample t-test formula. From the calculated data the significance is 0.055. This data was said to be normally distributed because 0.055 > 0.005 then, the value of sig 2 tailed is 0.001. From the research data, the researcher gave input to the teacher to continue to applied the story mapping technique to students' reading comprehension, because there was a significant effect that occurred when the researcher applied this story mapping technique.
