Abstract

This study aims to determine the effects of using the peer teaching learning method at SMPN 12 Tanjungpinang. Peer teaching is a learning method that focuses on students as the center of learning. Data was obtained through a research instrument, namely a writing test. In this study, the results obtained from the students showed that the method had little impact on learning. This can be seen from the comparison of the average pre-test score of 75.27 and the average post-test score of 79.77. After calculating the standard score for students, the average post-test score was still below or far from the standard of 83. Therefore, this method did not have a significant impact on the writing learning of students at SMPN 12 Tanjungpinang. Thus, the use of the peer teaching method can be further optimized with tutors who better understand the material and with better supervision of the student tutors.
