Abstract

One way to improve student learning outcomes was to choose appropriate learning methods or media. Based on the observations of Class IX.7 students of Junior High School 1 Tanjungpinang, there was still a lack of learning and a lack of understanding of how to write procedure texts. Picture sequence media was one of the learning media that can be used for students to write procedural texts according to the sequence of picture observed. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability to write procedural texts for class IX.7 students of Junior High School 1 Tanjungpinang. This research using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects in this study were (1) to find out the teacher's activity in improving the ability to write procedural text using picture sequence media for class IX.7 students of Junior High School 1 Tanjungpinang , (2) to find out student activity in improving the ability to write procedural text using picture sequence media of class IX.7 students of Junior High School 1 Tanjungpinang, (3) to find out how learning outcomes improve the ability to write procedural text using picture sequence media for students of class IX.7 Junior High School 1 Tanjungpinang. This research was conducted in 3 cycles. based on the results of the study it can be concluded: (1) teacher activity in cycle I obtained a score of 2.73 which was included in the fair category, in cycle II it increased to 3.11 which was included in the good category, and in cycle III increased to 3.50 which was included in the very good category. (2) student activity in cycle I obtained a value of 2.38 which was included in the sufficient category, in cycle II it increased to 3.17 which was included in the good category, and in cycle III obtained a value of 3.60 which was included in the very good category. (3) the student test results in cycle I were 13.63% in the bad category, in cycle II it increased to 63.63% included in the good category, and in cycle III to 88.63% which was included in the very good and complete category. It can be concluded that writing procedure text using sequence picture media can improve writing ability for class IX.7 students of SMP Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang.
