Abstract

This research aimed to develop listening materials using podcasts for grade 8th students at MTs Negeri Tanjungpinang. The study was motivated by the lack of engaging and varied listening materials in the classroom, which resulted in low student interest and limited vocabulary mastery. The research employed the ADDIE development model, focusing on the design, development, and validation of podcast-based listening materials centered on the topic of "Asking and Giving Opinions." The podcasts were created using the BandLab application and distributed via Spotify, making them accessible anytime and anywhere. Validation by media and material experts indicated that the developed materials were suitable for classroom use. The findings showed that integrating podcasts as learning media increased student motivation and engagement, and improved their listening comprehension skills. The developed materials are expected to serve as supplementary resources for both teachers and students, enhancing the effectiveness of English language learning.
