Supervisor II: Assist. Prof. Rona Elfiza, S.Pd., M.Pd. Keywords: Speaking, College Students’ Speaking for General Communication This research aims to identify the issues in speaking faced by students. The research design used in this study is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, and data collection techniques include questionnaires and video analysis. The population of this study consists of English language students in the English Education program at Raja Ali Haji Maritime University, Tanjungpinang. The sample for this study was selected through random sampling, specifically targeting several biology education students taking the "Speaking for General Communication" course. Data were gathered through questionnaires and video analysis, with assessments based on a Likert scale with four response options. Based on the research findings and discussions, it can be concluded that after identifying the speaking issues among students in the English Education program at Raja Ali Haji Maritime University, Tanjungpinang, there were 188 respondents who answered "agree," and the lowest response was "strongly agree" with 24 respondents, representing 50% and 6%, respectively. Additionally, both the questionnaire and video analysis revealed significant learning issues in speaking. Almost all students experienced various challenges in speaking, as evident from the significant percentage of students who chose "agree" in the total of 15 questionnaires, amounting to 50% of the overall total. Among the 15 presented questionnaires, several students faced pronunciation challenges, as indicated by the 56% who chose "Agree" in questionnaire number 2, which stated: "Even though I don't know how to pronounce words in English with correct pronunciation, I still try it.
